REGISTRATION
Advisory note for citizens of Tajikistan residing in the USA:
According to the article 29 of the Law of Tajikistan “On Citizenship of the Republic of Tajikistan”, if a person residing abroad does not have a consular registration within five years, unless there is a valid excuse, his/her rights to citizenship can be lost.
Each citizen must be registered at a consular section of embassies of the Republic of Tajikistan abroad after 30 days of his/her arrival to a country.
CITIZEN SERVICE
Our top consular priority is to assist Tajikistan citizens in the United States. The Consular Section is open for Tajikistan citizens from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
PASSPORT SERVICES
The Consular Section of the Embassy of Tajikistan to the USA accepts applications to extend validity of expiring or expired passports.
In
order to extend the validity of a passport the following documents should be submitted:
- Passport (both original and copy)
- Letter
of request (Zayavlenie)
- Duly filled
and signed application form (in Tajik
 or in Russian)
- Two photos (3.5X4.5 cm)
- Copy of
document of residence (visa, green card, etc)
- Money order
payable to the Embassy of Tajikistan for 50$. Cash is not accepted.
- Prepaid
return envelope.
For the time being the Embassy of Tajikistan is not able to replace passports that have been lost, stolen, or mutilated. The Embassy can accept passport applications and forward them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan for the process. The passports will be issued in Tajikistan and sent back to the Embassy in Washington, DC.
There is no exact turnaround time for this process.
In order to forward passport applications to Tajikistan the following documents should be submitted:
- Tajikistan National Passport (both original and copy)
- Letter
of request (Zayavlenie)
- Duly filled
and signed application form (in Tajik or in Russian)
- Four passport photos (3.5X4.5 cm)
- Copy of
document of residence (visa, green card, etc)
- Money order
payable to the Embassy of Tajikistan for 50$. Cash is not accepted.
- Prepaid
return envelope.
FOR LOST or STOLEN PASSPORTS
If you lose a passport while in the USA, you must do the following:
- Report you passport lost or stolen to the US Police. You need a Police Report to carry with you until you receive a certificate from the Embassy of Tajikistan.
- Report the loss to the Embassy of Tajikistan in Washington, DC.
Certificate for return to the Republic of Tajikistan
In cases where the applicant must travel urgently, the Embassy can issue a certificate to return to the Republic of Tajikistan. The certificate will be valid for 30 days.
The applicants should submit the following:
- Copy of National Passport
- Letter
of request (Zayavlenie)
- Duly filled
and signed application form (in Tajik or in Russian)
- Two passport photos (3.5X4.5 cm)
- Copy of
document of residence (visa, green card, etc)
- Police Record.
- Prepaid
return envelope.
The Certificate will be issued free.
